Unlike conventional hydraulic testing methods, the Colloidal Borescope measures groundwater velocity in situ – resulting in accurate aquifer flow rates and directional data without removing groundwater.

• Track contamination migration in real-time

• Define preferential flows across well screens when low-flow sampling

Detecting the movement of naturally occurring particles found in aquifers, the Borescope uses a magnified sensor, illuminate source, and frame rate technology to count the number of particles present, their speed and direction.

For example, using a frame rate of 30 frames per second, detection of a particle moving 1mm across the field of view could be captured in subsequent frames 1/30 of a second apart. This would result in a velocity measurement of 3cm/s. Using this information, AquaLite software computes, records, and generates real-time velocity information for real-time decision making.
